5 Day of Giving: Day 2 – Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative

On the Day 2 of this non-profit giving series, I’m focusing on an organization that I have been actively involved with in the past year, the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. The Shrivers, who started this organization, lost their daughter Liddy to Ewing’s Sarcoma when she was 37, just a year older than Kevin. They had little support or information, as most people face when they are diagnosed with Sarcoma.

Sarcomas make up about 1% of all cancers in the United States, according to the LSSI website. The phrase ‘Sarcoma Knows No Borders’ is coined by the organization, because it knows no difference in race, organ, tissue, sex. It just attacks.

Please consider supporting now or in the future by clicking HERE. I am also beginning planning for the 2011 year of Team Sarcoma events here in the Central Pennsylvania.

For those who attended the Keepin’ it Kevin: Bike/Walk/Run we raised $5000 before expenses and this year, we hope to do even more. I plan to hold another event very similar, and I am also working on an additional event with a local sports team. If you cannot donate financially, donate your time to help making these events a success.
