I have swine flu. Yeah, it sucks. I’m pretty much quaranteed to the house until Tuesday when I’m allowed to go back to work and leave the house without wearing a medi-mask. You should’ve seen the looks I got in CVS today wearing the mask. You’d think I had the bubonic plague or something! Needless to say, I’m quite sick and just trying to hang tough.
Tonight I read about how Michael Buble is topping charts with his “crazy love” single. My heart fell as I could only hope that he had re-created an entirely new “crazy love” song and NOT the one that was originally done by Van Morrison.
You see, now, I’m not that much of a freak about re-makes, but that same Van Morrison song was Kevin & I’s SONG. I remember visiting Kevin over New Years in 2006 and we danced in the living room after a lovely dinner at Assinaboine park to this song. It was the first time I heard it, and I felt like I was in a fairytale. With my prince, in his arms, same from all, and consumed by a crazy love. We danced to this song on our Wedding Day. It was, ours. To this day, it is still difficult to put that Moondance album in the cd player. Oddly enough, my brother borrowed the Jeep to pick up Linda & Ken right after Kevin had passed. He quickly threw in a CD he thought they would like. When I got into the car the next day, it was the Moondance album and my heart just stopped. Kurt hadn’t remembered that it was our song, but I felt like maybe it was meant to be playing, the last song from Kevin.
I feel sick. Not just from the swine flu, but a bit in my heart as well as I approach the year anniversary, and as I hear our song making a comeback. I think it’s time I make a comeback myself.
