Accomodations
Southernmost King at Southermost Inn for solo travelers
This inviting suite is one of our larger rooms and is located throughout the first and second floors of our historic buildings. These airy rooms have one king-size bed, and a private bathroom with a bathtub or shower, as well as complimentary toiletries and a hair dryer. Additional conveniences include a Flat Panel Television, an iron and ironing board, climate-controlled air conditioning, and a ceiling fan. This room is non-smoking.
The main building at the Southernmost Inn was originally a Francisco Marrero cigar factory built in the late 1800’s. An award-winning renovation restored a series of tobacco-sorters’ bay windows that were once a common feature of wood-frame cigar factories in the Keys. The Southernmost Inn is the only place in Key West where you can find this architectural element today. Additionally, the smaller buildings on the property served as houses for cigar factory workers.
The Marrero building was converted to dwelling space after the cigar industry left Key West. Like many places in Key West, there’s even a legend that Hemmingway slept here when it was a boarding house.
