As many of you know, Kevin was a HUGE sports fan, and so I always followed along with him.
It was agreed, that when he moved to Pennsylvania, he would give up his Minnesota Vikings (which he was sick of anyways after the famous “boating incident”), and agree to root for my Pittsburgh Steelers. In return, I, who had no NHL team, would agree to root for the Buffalo Sabres. We mutually agreed to like the Baltimore Orioles and Penn State Football. It’s just a shoo-in around here, unless you’re a Phillies or Pitt fan!
Anyways..that’s the lowdown on that!
So…today our great Penn State Football team, who is 9-0, is playing IOWA. The BIG game. They’re ranked 3rd and we hope they can pull it out!
Also tonight, the Sabres play my BIL’s team, Boston (ugh!). And tomorrow, tomorrow our Steelers play the Colts, again my BIL’s team. DOUBLE UGH. I think this was all part of some elaborate game plan that Al (Kevin’s late father) and Kevin are working up in heaven with God to see some excitement this weekend. Funny.
So…here are my shoutouts:
GO PENN STATE!
GO SABRES!
GO STEELERS!
…and because I’m in Winnipeg, and anything is possible..GO BOMBERS!
Brenda-While I was in the shower I was praying for you, Ken, and Linda and the wake tomorrow. (I pray a lot in the shower, as odd as it may seem.) But anyway, the lyrics to a Casting Crowns song came to me, and I thought I would share them with you.
Praise You in This Storm
words by Mark Hall/music by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms
I was sure by now,God, that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it’s still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.
Chorus:
And I’ll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can’t find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away
Chorus
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
Chorus
-I can’t imagine your pain at this time, nor can I imagine a fiercer storm that you will ever endure. Know that many are praying for you and both the Boitson and Harnish families. Your heart is torn at this time, but God is with you. Hugs and love-Emily
